Explore the capital of the European Union bursting with culture
Situated in Northwestern Europe, Belgium is only a short distance from the UK border in Kent and easily accessible by coach. Although small (roughly four times smaller than England!), it holds an important role within Europe being the de facto capital of the EU, being one of two seats of the European Parliament and home to NATO’s headquarters, just to name a few of the many important roles.
Outside of its importance in politics, the country is diverse in its culture with something for every student. Creative students can enjoy the famous peeing statues, Art Nouveau architecture and iconic comic artists in Brussels. Students studying social sciences can explore the country’s past from narrow streets of medieval Ghent to significant battlefields in Ypres. Younger students can visit Choco-Story museum to learn the history of chocolate or Mini-Europe, a miniature park with Europe’s landmarks created on a scale of 1:25.
We are happy to provide a package of excursions and activities to match trip leaders’ requirement. Alternatively, we welcome requests and suggested activities for your group. Of course, if you are open to new ideas we are also happy to make recommendations about activities that have worked well for other groups.
In Belgium, typical activities and excursions can include:
