A Level German Revision

A Level German Revision

These courses are available throughout the year starting every Monday. Students can travel for a week, two weeks or longer. We are able to tailor packages to suit your requirements and the time you have available.

This A Level Revision Course is a hybrid course of an Intensive Language Course (in classes with students 16+, mixed nationalities) and an additional modules. Please note: This course does not focus on a particular exam board or the UK A Level specifically (apart from in the 1:1 lessons). This course, is however, appropriate for students taking A Level, Leaving Cert, IB, Finals or similar.

Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and well known for its many interesting sights, such as the harbour and the Elbphilharmonie. Our German language school in Hamburg is located in the Esplanadebau, a historic Art Deco office building right in the city centre. From here you are only a few steps from the Alster River and the Jungfernstieg promenade.

The modern, well-equipped school is designed to give students the very best environment within which to work. With 15 classrooms, study centre, multi media room, internet cafe, student lounge and spacious terrace you will be extremely well catered for in the heart of the city.

Language Course

The course concentrates on learning and actively using the language – this way the tuition is very much practice oriented. During the morning you will participate in group sessions with other students of a similar German level to you, with lessons focusing on improving all aspects of the German language. In the afternoons, you will then have an additional 10 small group classes spread over the week, to enable you to practise and perfect your German in a smaller group setting (5-8 students maximum).

This course is ideal for A Level students as it develops confidence, fluency and vocabulary. It is intended to support students in preparation for exams but also generally improve their German skills.

Optional Social and Cultural Programme

The school offers a range of social and cultural activities including: gallery visits, boat trips along the River Spree, seminars, guided nights out and full day excursions on Saturdays.

Host Family

For students wanting to completely immerse themselves in the German language and culture we recommend that you stay with one of our carefully selected German host families. They will not only introduce you to the German way of life and help you practise the German language but will also give you a taste of local and delicious regional specialities. The host families are situated within the Hamburg Metropolitan area within good reach of the school by foot or U-bahn / S-bahn (underground/train).

Host Family accommodation includes half-board catering (breakfast & evening meal) from the Sunday before your course starts to the Saturday after it finishes.

Subject to availability, an extra day on one side of your trip may be available on request to facilitate flight dates. A surcharge is payable for any extra nights.

You can read more about what it means to stay with a host family in our Host Family Guide.

* Please note that unlike in France and Spain where families are vetted using the local equivalents of the UK DBS check, in Germany hosts are not required to undertake a police check. Hosts are stringently vetted by the accommodation officer attached to the language school and students’ reviews of hosts are used to inform the suitability of hosts for future use.

Please note residence accommodation is only available for students over 18 years old.

The school has a range of beautifully appointed single and twin, self-catering apartments situated on the school campus. Apartments include a fully equipped kitchen, private bathroom, TV, phone, WiFi, bedsheets and towels. The facilities are ideally located for access to the school and local facilities, including cafés, restaurants, bars and shops.

The school is easily accessible via Hamburg's excellent transport system and we are happy to provide details on request. We can also arrange private transfers for you from Hamburg airports or train stations for a supplement.
