Location

With the backdrop of the rocky Iberian mountains and sparkling Mediterranean Sea, Malaga is an stunning city in the South of Spain – capital of the Costa del Sol region. Birthplace of the famous Pablo Picasso, Malaga has a perfect mix of historical monuments with trendy neighbourhoods. A wide range of influences can be found throughout the city’s architecture like the Gothic-Mujedar Iglesia de los Mártires, Moorish Alcazaba and the French-influenced Palacio de la Tinta. As well as a variety of museums to visit including the Centro de Arte Contemporaneo, Centre Pompidou and Museo Carmen Thyssen, the city is not short of things to do. Malaga also has a thriving art scene which can be found in the neighbourhood of Soho. Decorated by colourful street art, Soho is full of artsy cafés, innovative restaurants, and extravagant art installations.

An event not to miss is the Feria de Malaga – a week-long festival in August. The city comes alive to celebrate with activities like concerts, funfairs, flamenco and of course lots of delicious food!

Language Course

The core course comprises 20 lessons which concentrate on learning and actively using Spanish. The tuition is very much practice oriented. You will participate in group sessions alongside other students of a similar level, with lessons focused on improving all aspects of the language; speaking listening, reading and writing. There are 4 classes per day and these take place during the morning or afternoon. This course is designed for students who wish to learn or improve their Spanish, meet new people and have some free time to participate in Spanish culture and life in Valencia. The core course of 20 lessons also combines very well with a work experience option in our Work and Study package.

For students who want a more intensive experience, it is possible to add up to two of the following additional modules (for an additional cost):

1. Five Spanish Life and Culture classes.
2. Five Spanish Grammar Classes.
3. Five Spanish Pronunciation and Speaking Classes

There is also an option of five individual classes throughout the week (for an additional cost), the content of which will be decided by you in advance. We will ask you before you travel what you would like to cover with your tutor during these individual sessions, for example grammar, a specific thematic topic, conversation or pronunciation. It is possible to select the five individual classes option alongside the core course of 20 lessons only or alongside the core course of 20 lessons and one of the additional modules of five classes above. It is not possible to select the five individual classes option alongside the core course of 20 lessons and two of the additional modules of five classes.

You will be given a written assessment before you travel and a speaking assessment on the first morning before lessons in order to place you in the group most suited to your ability level. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability not nationality or age.

Optional Social and Cultural Programme

The school offers a range of activities during the week, as well as longer full day excursions at the weekends. These are available for a charge and you can book through reception during your stay. You will be introduced to the activities as part of your induction on your first day.  These activities change weekly but include the following:

Transfers can be arranged for a fee on request. Alternatively, we can provide directions and all the details you need to use public transport - the efficient and clean Metro runs straight from the airport to the city centre in only 20 minutes.

School Closures

The school will be closed on 22/01/24, 19/03/24, 29/03/24, 01/04/24, 01/05/24, 24/06/24, 15/08/24, 19/10/24, 01/11/24 and 06/12/24. During these weeks the school replaces lessons with a local excursion.
