French Summer Camp

For students of 16 – 18 years old, this course is an excellent way to learn the French language while socialising with other students the same age. (Students must turn 16 in the year of the camp to qualify so older 15 year olds can enrol.)

Suitable for beginners or more experienced linguists, students can immerse themselves in Spanish life and culture whilst learning the language and taking part in the varied group activities on offer.

Beginner start dates are: 01/07/24, 05/08/24

The school provides supervision whilst giving young people the freedom discover the beautiful city of Montpellier and have fun learning and socialising with other students of the same age from across the globe. Supervisors accompany the group activities and students have free time and choice over their timetable in-between.

This course is Sunday arrival and Saturday departure with the course at the school running from Monday to Friday. There is a full day excursion every Saturday, please book an extra night on the end of the trip if you would like this to be included.

The Summer Camp runs from Saturday 02/06/24 to Saturday 17/08/24 and students can book for 1 week, 2 weeks or more.

Location

There is a very friendly welcome waiting for you at the school in Montpellier, which has a lively and international feel. The school is in an exceptional location, right in the heart of the city, just a few steps away from the famous Place de la Comédie. It is the perfect place to learn French, discover French culture, meet new friends and enjoy the pleasures of the wonderful South of France!

The school has well equipped, light and comfortable classrooms, all with air conditioning and the latest technologies. In breaks and after lessons you can relax in the lounge area with a hot drink or snack, use the computers with internet access, enjoy the free wifi, discover the resource centre with a selection of French language movies, French literature and workbooks to complement your studies and browse the tourist information area containing local magazines, newspapers, tourist guides and cultural information.

The Place de la Comédie, the famous main square of Montpellier with its sunny café terraces, is on the school’s doorstep and you will find many bars, cafés, restaurants, shops, cinemas, museums and gardens within easy walking distance which will help you enjoy your stay in France to the full.

The school is located very close to the main bus and tramway stops, which can take you on the short journey to the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean sea.

The school is opposite Montpellier's Saint-Roch main train station.

Summer Camp Language Course (Young Adults)

The language course comprises 20 lessons of 45 minutes length each, which concentrate on learning and actively using French. The school caters for all abilities from beginners to more advanced French speakers and there are a maximum of 15 students per class. Most students are taught in classes with other 16 – 18 year olds on the Young Adults programme. The most advanced students (B2) will be taught in advanced adult classes open to students 16+. (Please refer to our page on Language Proficiency Levels for further guidance.)

Tuition is very much practice oriented, you will participate in group sessions alongside other students of a similar level, with lessons focused on improving all aspects of the language; speaking listening, reading and writing. There are 4 classes per day and these take place during the morning. During the afternoon there is a varied programme of supervised leisure activities, visits and excursions to introduce you to French culture, sports and lifestyles.

You will be given a written assessment before you travel and a speaking assessment on the first morning before lessons in order to place you in the group most suited to your ability level. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability not nationality.
