Location

Located in the Castille and Léon region, Salamanca is a city rich in culture and a centre of international historical interest. Known as La Dorada (the golden city), its sandstone buildings glow in the sunshine, contrasting with the blue of the Tormes river on whose banks it stands.

As a historic university city Salamanca bubbles with an exciting and youthful student atmosphere. This makes Salamanca a great place to experience Spanish life away from the tourist trail and to get involved in the hustle and bustle of real life.

Salamanca played a key role in the birth of the modern Castilian language at the beginning of the Spanish Golden Age. Thanks to this, Salamanca is a major centre of teaching the Spanish language. The old town has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988 and its continuing importance was reflected when it was named European City of Culture in 2002.

Language Course

The course comprises 20 lessons which are all about actively using Spanish in groups of students working at a similar level. The practice-oriented tuition covers all aspects of using Spanish to build students’ confidence in all aspects of the Spanish language: grammar and composition, vocabulary and conversation.

The school caters for all abilities from beginners to more advanced Spanish speakers. Class sizes are limited to no more than 12 students.

Grouping classes by ability instead of age or nationality makes learning livelyinternational and immersive.

Students take a short written assessment before they travel and a speaking assessment at the beginning of the course to place them in the group most suited to their ability level.

Activities

The Summer Camp offers activities either in the morning or afternoon throughout each week. There is also a full-day excursion every Saturday. Activities vary from week to week to ensure students who stay for multiple weeks experience a varied programme.

A detailed programme of the week’s activities is announced at the beginning of each week, along with a timetable and meeting points. Typical activities include:

  • Orientation walk around the city
  • Visit to Barrio de Oeste
  • Dance lessons
  • Comic creation workshops
