Location

Florence, Italy, is a vibrant and student-friendly city that blends rich history with modern charm. Known as the birthplace of the Renaissance, it’s home to iconic art and architecture, but also offers a lively atmosphere perfect for students. From exploring world-class museums and grabbing gelato by the Duomo to studying in cosy cafés or catching a sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo, there’s always something to do. With affordable eats, buzzing nightlife, walkable streets, and a large international student community, Florence is a place where learning and living go hand in hand.

Language Course

The core course comprises 20 lessons of 45 minutes each which concentrate on learning and actively using Italian. The tuition is very much practice oriented. You will participate in group sessions alongside other students of a similar level, with lessons focused on improving all aspects of the language; speaking listening, reading and writing. There are 4 classes per day and these take place during the morning or afternoon. This course is designed for students who wish to learn or improve their Italian, meet new people and have some free time to participate in Italian culture and life in Florence.

There is also an option of five or ten individual classes throughout the week (for an additional cost), the content of which will be decided by you in advance. We will ask you before you travel what you would like to cover with your tutor during these individual sessions, for example grammar, a specific thematic topic, conversation or pronunciation.

You also have the option to extend your group tuition per week to 30 lessons.

You will be given a written assessment before you travel and a speaking assessment on the first morning before lessons in order to place you in the group most suited to your ability level. Classes have an international flavour and a lively feel because they are grouped by ability not nationality or age.

The school offers a range of activities during the week, as well as longer full day excursions at the weekends. These are available for a charge and can be booked through reception during your stay. Activities are introduced as part of induction on your first day.  These activities change weekly but could include the following:

  • City tours
  • Dinners that allow students and teachers to get to know each other better
  • Guided visits to historical monuments
  • Italian cinema evenings at the school
  • Excursions (half-day or whole day).
    • Some examples include: Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa or Lucca.

Accommodation

For students wanting to immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture we recommend a stay in host accommodation with one of our carefully selected Spanish hosts. They not only introduce the Italian way of life and help practise the Italian language, but also give a taste of local and delicious regional specialities. Host accommodation is situated within 45 minutes’ journey time of the school. Half-board accommodation is provided (breakfast & evening meal) from the Sunday before the course starts to the Saturday after it finishes. Subject to availability, an extra day on one end of the trip may be available on request to facilitate flight dates. Students do not have access to the hosts kitchen for their own use.

Students also have the option of staying in one of the school’s self catering shared apartments with other international students; accommodation is in single rooms and all apartments have a communal bathroom and kitchen. Double rooms are available for students travelling together, please contact us if you would like to discuss this option. A 100€ deposit is required upon arrival to collect the keys.

Check in is between 2pm and 10pm on arrival day, late arrivals will require a £25 surcharge. Please check out by 10pm or contact us to make alternate arrangements.
