Summer camps for teens and young adults in Spain

A summer camp in Spain is an unforgettable way to gain confidence and fluency in Spanish while having fun and making memories with young people of the same age. Our summer camps cater for all levels of ability in Spanish with varied and exciting programmes of activities and Spanish lessons for students aged 12–18.

In the mornings, students take part in dynamic, pacy Spanish lessons in groups of students from around the world all working at the same level. Afternoon activities bring students together to be active, learn new skills and have fun. Each school’s programme reflects the unique character of its location, from city tours in Barcelona to beach games in Benalmádena or paella cooking in Valencia. At weekends, the programme may include full-day guided excursions to places of interest. Actual programmes vary from week to week, so the example programmes below are for guidance only.

For teens aged 13–17 who want a taste of the big city life, a summer camp in Barcelona immerses you in one of Europe’s most exciting cities. The summer camp in Valencia for students aged 13–15 offers a great balance of city attractions but in a smaller and more walkable destination. Located just along the coast from Malaga, the Benalmadena summer camp always gets rave reviews from travellers aged 13–17 who love the safe, compact small-town atmosphere with opportunities for more independence than in a big city.

Older teens and young adults can immerse themselves in the cultural life of Barcelona alongside students aged 16–20 from all over the world. For those who prefer old-world charm and a more walkable destination, our Valencia young adults summer camp offers a packed programme in one of our most popular destinations. For students aged 15–17 who may be less accustomed to travelling alone, a summer camp in Alicante is a great way to enjoy authentic Spanish life with a fantastic beach right on the doorstep.

Summer Camps in Spain offer a mix of homestay, residences and shared apartments. Homestay places students with carefully vetted local hosts so they enjoy the support of a home away from home. Residences and shared apartments are available in certain locations subject to age restrictions: please check when booking your summer camp.

You can book a Summer Camp without accommodation – ideal for family holidays if you’re staying in the area.

Spanish Summer Camps FAQs

All our Spanish summer camps include an intensive course of Spanish lessons for all students, along with an exciting programme of cultural, sporting and group activities.

A typical week at Summer Camp will include around 20 hours of morning lessons from Monday to Friday. The lessons cover core skills and vocabulary in Spanish, helping students improve their skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing. Students are placed in classes alongside other young people from around the world working at the same CEFR language level.

What are the key differences between a summer camp and an intensive language course?

  • Summer camps are for young people only, whereas classes in general Spanish language courses are open to all ages.
  • Summer camps offer activity programmes tailored to young people’s interests.
  • Summer camps offer a higher level of supervision than a general Spanish courses

At Blue Stamp Travel, we are committed to ensuring that everyone who travels with us is safe, secure and happy.

We only work with fully accredited summer camp providers that employ qualified staff and operate to the highest standards of safety and safeguarding. Activities are pitched at an appropriate level for the age and stage of the students involved and delivered by suitably qualified instructors.

All our Spanish Summer Camps offer accommodation to campers. Homestay accommodation is always a popular option where students stay with experienced, vetted local hosts. Some camps offer residence accommodation.

If you are planning a family holiday with your own accommodation, most of our summer camps are open to students enrolling just for the lessons and activities.

A “Young Adult” summer camp is typically aimed at campers aged 17–20 with a programme of lessons and activities that reflects the interests and needs of this age group. Young Adult summer camps balance appropriate levels of supervision with greater independence and opportunities to explore exciting new destinations.

A Young Adult summer camp is ideal for teenagers who are looking forward to moving away to university.

Generally, a summer camp will be suitable for students who already have some knowledge of Spanish rather than complete beginners with no knowledge of the language at all. If you’re in any doubt, get in touch and we will be happy to advise.

At the other end of the spectrum, summer camps are a great opportunity for young people who are already confident Spanish speakers to hone their skills alongside other advanced students.

Summer Camps – Practical Questions

Many students enrol on a Summer Camp for long stays to make the most of the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local language and culture. For shorter stays, the busy activity programmes ensure there’s never a dull moment, from parties and discos to beach games, cooking classes and team-building exercises.

Each summer camp has its own schedule, so check the course page to see exactly when you can enrol. Generally, summer camps operate to fit with European school summer holidays. These tend to start earlier than UK summer holidays, often in June. Most summer camps finish in mid to late August.

Choose the summer camp that’s right for you and click on the red Plan Your Trip button. That will take you to our booking platform, where you can select the dates of your stay and customise your experience with accommodation and other options.

Summer camps provide full-board accommodation, with breakfast, lunch and an evening meal. If a student is staying in host accommodation, they will usually be given breakfast and supper with their hosts and have lunch at the summer school.

Summer camps will always make every effort to accommodate students with specific dietary needs.

Dietary requirements – it is generally possible to accommodate any special dietary requirements. We will be happy to check with the summer camp provider to ensure that they can accommodate your child’s needs. In homestay accommodation there there may be a supplementary charge to accommodate specific dietary requirements such as a gluten- or dairy-free diets.

Our bespoke Babel trip planning platform allows you to inform us of all your child’s health and dietary requirements, which we share with the summer camp provider.
