Location

Granada is most famously known for the Alhambra, the breathtaking palace which epitomises the city’s Moorish history. Today, this influence runs right through the city and can be seen in its architecture, culture and winding cobbled streets. Though a small city, Granada is a provincial capital and home to one of Spain’s greatest universities, whose population of over 60,000 contributes to the city’s vibrant atmosphere and thriving cultural life.

With cafés, restaurants, bars and terraces offering a variety of tapas and other local treats, Granada is the perfect place to study Spanish and experience southern Spanish culture.

The language school is located in the heart of Granada close to the cathedral and at the foot of the Albaicín, 5 minutes walk from the Alhambra. Set in a recently renovated historic building, the school is spread over four floors. The ground and first floor house the school office, library, classrooms, computer lab, and a patio for the students to meet. The upper two floors consist of fully equipped apartments and a terrace which offers a panoramic view over Granada.

Language Course

The course comprises 20 lessons which are all about actively using Spanish in groups of students working at a similar level. The practice-oriented tuition covers all aspects of using Spanish to build students’ confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Classes grouped by level instead of age or nationality makes learning lively, international and immersive.

With four lessons a day during the morning or the afternoon, the course is designed for students who wish to learn or improve their Spanish, meet new people and enjoy free time exploring Spanish life and culture in Granada. The core course of 20 lessons also combines very well with a work experience option in our Work and Study package.

Students who want a more intensive experience can add five or ten individual classes on topics of their choice (additional fee applies). Nail that tricky aspect of grammar, brush up on conversation skills or discuss a set literature text: you name it, you can study it in a 1:1 session!

Students take a short written assessment before they travel and a speaking assessment on the first morning before lessons in order to place you in the right group for your level. Classes grouped by level instead of age or nationality makes learning lively, international and immersive.

Optional social and cultural programme

The school offers a range of activities during the week, as well as longer full day excursions at the weekends. These are available for a charge and can be booked at reception during the course. The week’s activities are introduced at the induction meeting. Typical activities include:

  • Walking tour of the city
  • Flamenco classes
  • Flamenco show in the caves
  • Alhambra visit (subject to availability)
  • Tapas tasting
