How it works

Start by choosing one of the destinations below, then decide on the format of your trip. When you contact us, let us know how many students you intend to bring, when you would like to travel, along with your other requests for activities, accommodation and travel.

Students should be aged 16 or above and studying at beyond GCSE level. That said, there is no expectation that they should have a high level of fluency: all our placement partners are committed to helping students improve their language skills and accept that students may lack confidence or fluency at first.

We advise arranging Work Experience trips as far in advance as possible, not less than six months before you plan on travelling.

Destinations

France

We offer Group Work Experience trips to Lille and Rouen, both easily accessible by road and rail from the UK. Lille is a delightful, compact and welcoming city, while Rouen offers the benefits of a larger regional capital with a rich and compelling history.

Spain

Groups travelling to Spain can choose between Alicante, Valencia and Granada for group Work Experience trips. Alicante is a relaxed, friendly small port city with a safe and walkable city centre – and a great beach. Valencia has become one of Spain’s most popular destinations for travellers, drawn by major attractions such as the City of Arts and Sciences. The ancient Moorish capital of Granada offers cooler mountain air and a wealth of historic and cultural treasures, most famously the fabulous Alhambra palace.

Germany

We offer group Work Experience trips to Hamburg and Munich. Hamburg is always popular with groups of all sizes who enjoy its variety, buzz and cosmopolitan energy. At the other end of the country, Munich is ideal for smaller groups who will enjoy the city’s cultural and historic heritage.

Formats

Work placements generally last a full working week (Monday–Friday), for five to six hours a day. Half-day placements may be possible on request for combination with a course at a language school.

Please be aware that factors such as public holidays may limit local availability of work placements in some or all business categories. Contact us early in your planning process to choose the best time for your trip.

Choosing placements

Students are invited to state their preferences for five of our business categories. Our experienced Placement Coordinator then matches students to available placements to suit their skills, experiences and career aspirations.

Safeguarding and safety

Ensuring that students enjoy safe, rewarding experiences abroad is our top priority at Blue Stamp Travel. All workplaces are given a health and safety assessment to protect students from workplace hazards and set clear expectations about the type of tasks they are to perform. In addition to this, students are given safety guidance to keep them safe in the workplace.

Group Leader

Many school groups choose to take a Blue Stamp Travel Group Leader along with their Work Experience trip to benefit from their support and experience with running this unusual format of school trip. The Group Leader supports students, visits workplaces, liaises between students and employers and helps resolve problems as soon as they arise. Our Group Leaders are fully DBS vetted and contribute an extra level of safeguarding and reassurance to your trip. Contact us to find out more.
