What made you choose to do your work experience at Blue Stamp Travel?
I wanted to learn more about the travel industry because travelling has always been a passion of mine. I’ve always thought about having a career in travel, so I felt that Blue Stamp Travel would be a great place to gain some experience and see what working in the industry is actually like. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to learn something new while doing something I’m interested in.
How did you feel before starting work experience?
Before I started, I was excited but also a bit nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. However, as soon as I arrived, everyone made me feel really welcome and comfortable. After meeting the team, I settled in quickly and felt much more confident throughout the week.
What kinds of tasks did you work on during the week?
During my work experience, I completed a variety of different tasks. I helped create travel plans for students going abroad for their work experience placements, which gave me an insight into how much planning goes into organising these trips. I also designed a scavenger hunt activity for a Year 9 school trip and created a daily menu featuring traditional Spanish food that people eat in Spain.

Was there anything you found challenging? How did you overcome it?
One of the things I found most challenging was making sure I included the company’s branding in my work. Whenever I wasn’t sure, I asked other members of the team for help and they were really supportive. Their advice helped me improve my work and understand the company’s style better.
What skills did you develop during your work experience?
During the week, I developed my IT skills and my creativity when designing different pieces of work. I also improved my personal presentation and became more confident working in a professional environment. Overall, I learnt a lot and gained experience that will be useful in the future.
What advice would you give to someone else about starting work experience?
My advice would be to just be yourself and have confidence. Always try your best, even if something seems difficult at first. Don’t be afraid to ask questions if you don’t know something because people are there to help you. Get to know the team you’re working with because it makes the experience much more enjoyable. Most importantly, have fun because it’s a great opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience!
