Madrid, the vibrant capital of Spain, blends rich historical heritage with dynamic modern culture. Located in the heart of the Iberian peninsula, the city is known for its grand boulevards, expansive parks, and impressive architecture. As Spain’s political, economic, and cultural centre, Madrid offers a mix of old-world charm and contemporary urban energy.
Landmarks like the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor highlight Madrid’s historic roots, while Puerta del Sol is the symbolic heart of the city. Madrid is also an art lover’s paradise, home to world-class museums such as the Prado, housing masterpieces by Velázquez and Goya, the Reina Sofía with Picasso’s “Guernica,” and the Thyssen-Bornemisza, showcasing Western art from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
Located in the centre of the capital, the language school has 70 years of experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Located on a quiet street in the Centro district, close to public transport connections, markets and shops, it is also only 20 minutes from El Retiro Park. The building has 29 modern classrooms, a library of books and videos, a café and a quiet zone to relax.
The course comprises 20 lessons of 55 minutes each which are all about actively using Spanish in groups of students working at a similar level. The practice-oriented tuition covers all aspects of using Spanish to build students’ confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Classes grouped by level instead of age or nationality makes learning lively, international and immersive.
This course is designed for students who wish to learn or improve their Spanish, meet new people and have some free time to participate in Spanish culture and life in Madrid.
For a supplement, you have the chance to extend your course and add another 10 group lessons in the afternoon, these are in smaller groups giving you more chance to cover elements of the course that you want to challenge. This is timetabled at 2 lessons of 55 minutes each in the afternoon per day.
There is also an option of 5 or 10 1:1 classes throughout the week (for an additional cost), the content of which will be decided by you in advance. We will ask you before you travel what you would like to cover with your tutor during these individual sessions, for example grammar, a specific thematic topic, conversation or pronunciation.
The school offers activities during the week such as guided tours of museums, trips to historical parks, bicycle tours, food tasting and flamenco dancing. Students can book activities at reception. Some activities cost a small additional fee.
Weekend excursions are organised to nearby cities such as Ávila, Segovia and Aranjuez and are a great way to learn about Spanish culture and practise Spanish in a social setting with fellow students. Excursions can be booked at reception for a small additional fee.
